A little honesty goes a long way.
Looking okay.
Carrying more.
Let’s talk about it.
Driven, not defined.
For the life that looks put together.
And everything going on underneath.
Yes, even if your calendar says otherwise.
01 / Behind the smile
Two words.
A lot left unsaid.
“I’m fine.” It’s a handy little sentence. It keeps the conversation moving. It gets you back to the meeting. It rarely tells the whole story.
Seems Fine is a place for the rest of that story: the ambition, the overthinking, the humour, and the things we’re learning to say out loud.
Created by Rick Byrne, Seems Fine brings together a personal memoir and a wider conversation about life with Highly Functional Anxiety. Honest stories. A little perspective. And, whenever possible, a laugh.
You can be driven.
You don’t have to be defined by it.

A STORY ABOUT ANXIETY
02 / The book
Seems Fine:
A Story about Anxiety
He showed up. Worked hard. Built a career. Raised a family. From the outside, everything looked steady.
Through childhood memories, family moments, career pressure, and hard-earned reflection, Rick Byrne explores what it means to succeed while silently struggling.
A personal memoir told with honesty, humility, and humour. A chance to recognise yourself in someone else’s story, and to feel a little less alone.

03 / Meet Rick
Rick Byrne.
Still figuring it out.
Rick is a Canadian technology leader, speaker, and writer from Edmonton, Alberta. With more than two decades of experience helping organisations build resilience, he brings a practical, deeply human perspective to anxiety, ambition, leadership, and family.
Seems Fine grows out of his own lived experience: the planning, the overthinking, the pressure to be dependable, and the quiet assumption that if everything is functioning, you must be fine.
Driven, not defined. For Rick, that means appreciating the curiosity, preparation, and drive that are part of him, while learning to recognise when anxiety is taking over.
04 / Keep the conversation going
A little less pretending.
A little more connection.
